Animals have a heart too

By Mehek Shaikh

It was predicted that the world in 2020 will be amazing and better. The books would be dead. People would use only plastic money. They would be self driving cars. But no one said that 'humanity' would be lost. I don't know how much we've progressed economically in the past few years but I surely know that we've become worse as humans.

Today, we live in a world where animals are being raped, set on fire, beaten up and even killed. There are a ton of videos posted by people on social media showing how they torture animals. I honestly don't even know what to say. The poor little living beings can't even speak up for themselves. Where humans should be a voice for them, there are torturing them.

A video had being circulated of a man setting a cat on fire. So many dogs and cows have been raped by men. Dogs are being killed to be eaten. Puppy mills have been set up. These are basically places where dogs are forced to mate and the puppies are then kept in cages. The aren't even provided with proper food and water. Their faeces is all over the cage. Pets are being abandoned.

Human beings have become very cruel and heartless. They have no feeling of compassion. But there are also people who are helping these animals. NGOs have been providing foster homes to homeless puppies and kittens.

The idea that we have the right to inflict suffering and death on other living beings for pleasure or fashion, without doubt, is the most arrogant and morally repugnant thought of the human kind. I think animal abuse should be just as punishable as child abuse. They are as just as innocent as children. Half of the time they don't even understand what's going on.

Just remember, the world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.

"A world where animals are no linger harmed. What a world that would be!"
