You’ll see people say that we are in a developing country where people live lavishly and in a modern way with all the expensive gadgets and amenities so that they seem to be coping up with the trends and changes in fashion as well but that doesn’t mean it’s a developed/developing country......not only a country or two but the whole world for that matter of fact can develop only when the mindset and thinking of the society changes, they should also stop being narrow minded and orthodox. One of the major issues that we’re facing these days is RACISM!

On 25th May, Minneapolis police officers arrested a 46 year old black man named George Floyd as he was accused of buying cigarettes with a counterfeit bill of $20.

He died after Derek Chauvin, a white policeman, knelt on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds (to be precise).

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s autopsy found that Floyd died from cardiac arrest due to neck compression that lead to restricting of blood flow to the brain and back.

He had been tested positive for the corona virus, his autopsy showed, but that wasn’t listed as a factor in his death.

Floyd’s death sparked protests nationwide that called for the end to police violence against black citizens. Hundreds of people flooded into the Minneapolis streets who vandalised police vehicles and local stores and set them on fire. It has affected people nation wide that provoked them to react violently which lead to a lot of destruction as well.

According to me, reacting to such issues shouldn’t be violent because that won’t stop people from being racists. Racism affects people mentally and physically, because of that some also find it difficult to love themselves as they dont feel accepted by the society. And discrimination of individuals on the basis of their colour is an issue that’s being faced by the dark skinned people since many decades.

From 1948 through the 1990’s a single word dominated the lives in South Africa i.e. Apartheid- which meant that the majority black population would be under the thumb of a small white minority. And because of this discrimination they had cut all ties with India.

On the doors of restaurants, there would be a note that black people and dogs aren’t allowed inside.

Racism is something that needs to STOP for once. And it won’t stop just by passing a law or petition , the solution to it is that people need to change their thinking.

It’s 2020 god damn it , and I can’t believe that people are still being discriminated on the basis of their skin colour and i don’t understand how can someone’s skin colour make one decide on how they should be treated!

Every individual is unique in their own way and NO ONE has got the right to treat them differently from the white people because outer appearance doesn’t matter, what matters is how a person is from inside.
