We lost two iconic legends of Indian cinema. Unless you are a true blood Hindustani you wouldn’t understand our obsession with Bollywood and their actors. Alas!! We lost 2 such obsessions. What a blow!!!
As my eyes wept with billion other fellow Indians, there’s a lesson that I learnt from the passing away of the legendary Shri Rishi kapoor and versatile Irrfan Khan.
As irfan khans wife Sutapa Sikadar writes in her statement after the passing away of irfan Khan-
The statement read, "How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve”
And the Kapoor family along with various other artist of the indian cinema paid tribute to the much talented and legendary Rishi Kapoor with their experiences and life lesson taught by him. The letter released by them making the announcement mentioned “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.
“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.”
Both the statements made by their family show us the way of life that are truly lived by legends- king size. They wouldn’t want it any other way. Both of them even in their last lap of life lived it to doing what they loved the most and faced their insecurities and surprises thrown by life with a brave heart.
As we at least gazzette pay tribute to the great actors of indian cinema we do so by celebrating life. We take home in our hearts the story and smile of 2 individuals who inspite of living the dreadful disease were full of optimism and looking forward to completing their dreams and doing movies which was their passion. This zeal for life made millions cry but I am sure as they left for their last journey they had a joy in the heart, a joy of a life well lived. This is what we want to follow. Love your dreams and love your life. There’s nothing more to the uncertainty that we all live in all the time. There is no guarantee for how long.
A million thank you Rishi kapoor sir for making us fall in love with romance, songs making us cry with you and hate you when you were a villain.
A million thank you Irrfan sir for giving wings to the dreams of many. For bowling us over with your fantabulous acting skills. Making us laugh and cry all at the same time.
To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die- Thomas Campbell
